With Carol Shelby’s recent pass away the 2012 Shelby GT500 Mustang is technically his last creation that is in production now and what a creation it is. Its monster 5.4 liter V8 produces 550hp and 510 ft/lbs of torque. The performance figures alongside the GT500’s unique traction control system can propel it to 60 in under 4 seconds and will go on to do the quarter mile in 12 seconds. It will beat a Ferrari F430 from a roll race which is quite astounding! The feel of acceleration is something to experience for yourself. It will almost make you light headed.
This classic American icon will get you noticed anywhere. Its special edition white paint with blue stripes will get you noticed anywhere and people will respect it. The stock exhaust system gives the supercharged v8 a nice deep tone that sounds amazing.
The GT500 mustang has come a long way in its development. The current 2012 GT500 is definitely the best handling mustang to date. The suspension system is tuned up and some parts are derived from the Ford race cars. You can push it hard through the corner and when the tail starts to come out a little, you can control it into a nice drift. The Shelby GT500 Mustang is an excellent car to drive and can definitely be used as a road trip car. The power is well manageable if driving normally and it gives the mustang a nice smooth feel when accelerating. The clutch isn’t harsh and is quite civilized to drive day to day.
The interior of the Shelby GT500 is a nice place to be in. The seats are wrapped in leather and suede and are very comfortable on long drives. The sound system is excellent an can give any trip a nice beat.
